The International University of Science & Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait, with a new campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall. Fully accredited by the Private Universities Council (PUC), the University offers a wide range of academic programs in Engineering, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. Position Summary

The IT Network and Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various low-voltage systems and network infrastructure. This includes structured cabling (copper & fiber), CCTV surveillance, access control, Wi-Fi networks, telephony systems, AV systems and projectors. The ideal candidate ensures that all physical infrastructure and hardware components are operating at peak performance.

Responsibilities

Installation & Termination

Perform professional termination of Cat6/Cat6A and fiber optic cables.
Install and dress cables within server racks, patch panels, face split and floor box outlets.
Mount and install hardware, including cameras, access control readers, Wi-Fi access points and projectors.

Hardware Deployment (Security & Connectivity)

Physical mounting and positioning of CCTV cameras, access control hardware (mag‑locks, biometrics), and Wi‑Fi access points.
Installation and alignment of projectors, motorized screens, and AV systems.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Conduct routine preventative maintenance on all LV systems.
Diagnose connectivity issues using network testers and testing tools.
Identify and repair faults in physical cabling or hardware components.

Technical Knowledge & Blueprint Reading

Interpret site surveys and must be able to read site drawings and understand network diagrams/topology.
Execute basic user‑side configurations (e.g., setting IP addresses, checking link lights) for initial troubleshooting.
Network basics: know how to do basic configuration on the user side to troubleshoot problems.
Fiber: specific experience in troubleshooting fiber‑optic lines (connectivity test, types of Fiber, OTDR, OTLS).
Telephony: setup and repair of phone systems.
Knowledge of PoE (Power over Ethernet), how to mount, aim, and focus both IP cameras.
Knowledge of international cabling standards (TIA/EIA) for termination and cables.

Education

Minimum high school certificate.

Experience

Minimum 5‑6 years of professional experience in network infrastructure and low voltage.

Electrical wiring and cabling are a must.
